Speaker: David Ellis

In this presentation David Ellis will tell the story of how he traced the ancestry of his grandfather, Robert Ellis. David was curious about his ancestry and spoke with his grandfather when he was a teenager. The only ancestors whose names his grandfather knew were his parents, and he was not aware that his parents came from Lithuania. Through detailed and often painstaking research, David managed to identify by name 46 Litvak ancestors who had been completely forgotten.

Bio:

David Ellis grew up on Long Island and has been researching his ancestry for more than 50 years.  As a software engineer, he acquired skills enabling him to extract information from online databases and other sources. He serves on the board of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston (JGSGB) and leads special interest groups for Lithuania and Galicia. David is also on the board of LitvakSIG, serving as coordinator for the Vilnius District Research Group. He enjoys connecting with other people and helping them research their ancestry.
