Burial Society Photos

JGSNY needs your help enhancing our Burial Societies Database!

We are looking to enhance the database with photos of the gate or arch at the entrance to the plot. These often have the names of the officers and other members of the society at the time the plot was established.  If you already have one for your family member’s society, or would like to take one, please send it to us as an attachment at burialsociety@jgsny.org . If the gate requires multiple views to capture all the information, please try to make a composite JPG (see below), as we can only post one photo. If you can’t do that, then send us a few and we will do our best.

See a single photograph for the First Congregation Dunajewer Kranken Unt. Verein ; see a composite of the entry for the Kipiler Young Mens Benevolent Association. Click on the photo for a full view. Download it by right-clicking and then saving the image.

Please observe the following guidelines:

  • Please do NOT send photos of individual gravestones.
  • Please do NOT send photos you have downloaded from other websites, as we do not want to be infringing on someone else’s copyright. Please send only your own photos.
  • Again, if possible, please send one photo showing as much of the gate or arch as possible, as the database can only accommodate one photo per plot. Please composite multiple photos into one, if you know how. One method is to lay out all the photographs on a PowerPoint slide, group them into a single object, and then right-click it into a JPG file.
  • Send as an attachment to burialsociety@jgsny.org.
  • When you send to us, please identify the name of the cemetery, its geographic location (some cemeteries, such as Montefiore and Mount Lebanon, have multiple locations) and the block/section/gate number, if applicable, as some societies have multiple plots in the same cemetery.

Thanks in advance!
